Hello ThreeFolders,
Here is a clear picture of where things stand after the second month of the year, and where the team is headed. The team’s focus right now is on three fronts:
- Getting Project Mycelium live
- Getting Hero into the hands of users, and
- Securing data center deals to bring significant grid expansion, and offtake agreements to fill sizable chunks of capacity and bring real revenue into the ecosystem.
Below we cover what this means for farmers, introduce Hero, recap the latest community call, and share key mainnet updates.
A New Project by the Same Team
Where ThreeFold focused on decentralized cloud, Project Mycelium goes further. It is a sovereign cloud and AI platform where agentic AI, peer-to-peer networking, and autonomous agents are all native to the stack, not added on top.
It is a new project, built by the same team. As a ThreeFold community member, you have early access by agreement, including the ability to register your existing nodes on the marketplace and access SPORE at a preferential rate before it opens to the public.
What This Means for ThreeFold Farmers
V3 minting has stopped. ThreeFold Grid remains operational and existing workloads continue running, but earnings have moved to Project Mycelium. To keep earning, you will need to register your nodes there.
On Project Mycelium, every registered farmer earns a baseline income for their capacity when their nodes are idle. Once capacity is actively utilized, farmers then access the open marketplace rate for cloud and AI capacity. Farmers who keep their nodes online until the marketplace is fully functional will earn SPORE rewards retroactively from January 1, 2026.
The Transition Hub is launching soon and will walk you through everything.

Hero
The team is also heads down on Hero, one of the primary sources of real demand on the Project Mycelium network.
Hero represents a paradigm shift in how we manage our digital lives. It gives you a complete digital environment that you own, all running on infrastructure you control. Easy to manage, secure, and private. Your data stays yours, always. AI works locally, inside your own context, not on someone else’s cloud.
Hero Archipelagos takes this further, allowing developers to embed features like messaging, calendar, files, and contacts into any website.
Hero is already in alpha testing, moving toward early beta.

Mainnet Update: TFGRID 3.18.4-rc1
A partial upgrade was released across the TF ecosystem focused on stability, performance, and giving farmers more control.
- The Dashboard (2.9.2) fixes the static website app.
- ThreeFold Connect (4.3.2) has a refreshed look.
- The Mycelium Network GUI (0.13.3) brings improved performance.
- On the node side, Mycelium was updated to 0.7.3, deprovision panics and recurring deployment errors were fixed, a VM health check job was added, and iPerf tests now use public servers for better accuracy.
- On the blockchain side (TFCHAIN 2.11.0), farmers can now opt specific nodes out of V3 billing.
- Developer tooling also received updates across Pulumi, Grid-proxy, and Grid-client with OpenTelemetry support.
