Join the Grid 3.0 beta testers group

  1. Who are you, and what is your involvement in the ThreeFold community? I pre-bought tokens for my digital twin and have a Titan 2.1 in order to participate in capacity.
  2. If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0? I am a sever admin for multiple websites. They are hosted on a combination of Debian, Ubuntu, with PHP, HTML, MySQL, and MariaDB. So, I could deploy anything from a plain HTML site to something more complicated. I am not a coder though.
  3. Are you already in the loop about new features in Grid 3.0? Do you have any questions about what needs to be tested? Sure.
  1. Who are you, and what is your involvement in the ThreeFold community? I have 3 Titans V2 up and running for about 2 months!
  2. If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0? I would love to be a part of a early test group. Would be grateful to be a early adopter in a company I believe in. Donā€™t have much to offer but Iā€™m willing to learn anything new.
  3. Are you already in the loop about new features in Grid 3.0? Do you have any questions about what needs to be tested? Yes I know about the new features. No.
  • Who are you, and what is your involvement in the ThreeFold community? Multiple Titan v2s on order looking to play a bigger part in the community.

  • If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0?
Potentially, need to get more info first. Iā€™m excited to help grow the project and would love to help test and aid the development.

  • Are you already in the loop about new features in Grid 3.0? Do you have any questions about what needs to be tested?
    Relatively, not yet.

  1. Who are you, and what is your involvement in the ThreeFold community?
    A: I joined the community about a year+ ago have 3xDIY nodes and 1xPluto V2.

  2. If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0?
A: Not particular app in mind just yet, but one that comes is ā€œPresearch?ā€ but would like to test and compare Grid 2.x and Grid 3.0 differences and functionality.

  3. Are you already in the loop about new features in Grid 3.0? Do you have any questions about what needs to be tested?
A: Just sow a few announcements, but do not know what needs to be tested in details? I guess a full lifecycle starting from image generation and deployments, connection to the gateways, stability, usability, IPv4&IPv6 resilience, hosted environments etcā€¦

  1. Who are you, and what is your involvement in the ThreeFold community?
Titan on order and 2 diy nodes

  2. If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0?I would like to learn more and make this community grow

  3. Are you already in the loop about new features in Grid 3.0? Do you have any questions about what needs to be tested? Not really in the loop but willing to learn and test grid 3

Zero-OS grand dady

Iā€™m planning to run a bunch of collator nodes for the kusama/polkadot ecosystem.
Requirements per node are around 16GiB of ram, 1 or 2 CPU and around 500GiB of storage for starting but growing over time.

I would like to drive my infrastructure using the new Terraform provider, is this something that is already ready for testing ?

Wow, thanks for the replies everyone! I am taking note of your responses and will follow up via direct message here on the forum when weā€™re ready for you to start testing.

Update as of now is that weā€™re still working on a release thatā€™s suitable for a public testing group. Good progress has been made, but thereā€™s no firm timeline right now. Thanks for your patience

Been following the progress for about a year now and clearly share the vision on decentralising cloud computing. Following the Telegram channels for about that time to but got totally lost in the wikis. Running a DIY Node for 3 month now.
  • If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0?
I have a few worpress blogs for private use, where I donā€™t need that much capacity. They are hostet at uberspace atm. Running a hostet Nextcloud for private use. Need about 500GB of storage there. This is running on windcloud atm. Would like to move the on the grid and still thinking about the cloud. Plus super interested in kubernetes so wanne gather some experince here to. Playing with ansible too
  • Are you already in the loop about new features in Grid 3.0? Do you have any questions about what needs to be tested?
Really looking forward to see and play with something running on substrade/Polkadot. Would like to get more/deeper information about how things are beeing done and how far progress is.

1: Peter Kraft, TF Ambassador since 01-2019
2: no specific apps. We would like to attract users to sell the capacity of our VCC Farm. Move our own website (WP based) to the TF Grid (and our own VCC Farm)
3: I have tested 2.x and VDC using TF TestLodge. Want to understand what is new in 3.0 and how we can apply this to our VCC Farm in Vienna
Looking forward to start testing TF 3.0

  1. Iā€™m Dirk. Iā€™ve been involved with the ThreeFold Ambassador community for a few months now. Iā€™m running a diy node, my Titan is on order.

  2. Iā€™m trying to learn Elixir and I think it would be cool to try and deploy a basic Elixir demo app on the TF Grid. The app should be very lightweight, so not much capacity needed.

  3. Iā€™ve read about Grid 3.0 and attended a few calls. Iā€™d like to get a deeper understanding how everything fits together, not only from a Grid perspective, but the whole TF eco system. The Grid beta testing should be a good learning by doing exercise.

  1. Who are you, and what is your involvement in the ThreeFold community? I have 1x Titan 2.0 and also 2x DIY nodes. I work in Managed Services and support cloud services we sell to business customers. I fully understand how big a project Threefold is and the potential.

  2. If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0? I am interested in deploying mining nodes and looking to create youtube videos, I believe this is a big area to make passive income on v3.0.

  3. Are you already in the loop about new features in Grid 3.0? Do you have any questions about what needs to be tested? I will be looking to deploy VM machines, dockers, etc to test out functionality and educate others

My name is Athus Oliveira, iĀ“m a developer and IĀ“ve been working with Ootopia here in Brasil and in this project iĀ“m responsible for Web3 integrations and decentralised solutions. We have one Threefold node running here in Brasil, the first of many (weĀ“re woking for it). I believe we can make a community based network powered by Threefold and I wish to join the v3.0 beta tester. About the workloads and capacity requirements, we can make it work with our own running nodes.

  1. Who are you, and what is your involvement in the ThreeFold community? Hi, my name is George and have no direct involvement in the Threefold project, but I have been following the project for about a year on youtube and other SM.
  2. If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0? I was to young when the dot com revolution happened and to dumb to get involved when the internet revolution happened and took over the world, now we are at the threshold of the biggest disruption to the financial sector, and the birth of the decentralised everything. I wont miss my chance to be involved again.
  3. Are you already in the loop about new features in Grid 3.0? Do you have any questions about what needs to be tested? i have zero questions, becuse i know nothing except the basics, but i will start learning in depth now.

  1. My background is core infrastructure architecture, deployment and support (plan/build/run) for large multinationals (25,000+ users). I have 1x Titan 2.0 online, 1 x DIY node online and waiting for delivery on 2 x Titan 2.1 nodes. I love getting involved in beta testing and early adopter programs!
  2. If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0? I do not have my own or custom app - however, Iā€™m willing to assist the community with structured use case testing plans, tracking thereof and doing follow-ups. Grid 3.0 is exciting

Hello all,

Final tweaks are still ongoing to our testnet. As testnet will run on real TFTs, we donā€™t want to rush opening it up. We will update you on the testing program also very soon.
In the meantime, feel free to already prepare and start testing the TFGrid 3.0 devnet. Itā€™s uses tokens that are freely available, so certainly for more tech savvy people highly recommended to get an insight on what TFGrid 3 will be all about.
The manual - under construction - is available on https://library.threefold.me/info/threefold#/manual_tfgrid3/threefold__manual3_home . More info will be shared soon, as well as some demos etc. But we believe there is already a good starting point.

We are looking forward to feedback from you around your first experiences connecting to TFGrid 3.0 (devnet for the moment): are you able to set up your farm or deploy a workload, is the manual sufficiently clear and where does it need to improve ? Weā€™d like to hear from you, all input is welcome.

Hi. First, Iā€™m excited to be in with a chance of joining this group. I am a system admin of sorts and a semi-full stack web developer when am not being consumed by my day job. I run a few virtual servers on some well known vds/vps providers which I currently use to host websites and other applications for my clients. My involvement in ThreeFold is currently limited to owning a slightly heavy bag of TFT tokens.

  2. If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0?
I admire the concept of a decentralised cloud as being implemented by ThreeFold and I want to play my part in advancing this project, however small this part might be. The pawn of the board?

  3. Are you already in the loop about new features in Grid 3.0? Do you have any questions about what needs to be tested?
Yes I am in the loop via the telegram channel and I believe I have watched most of the youtube videos out there about ThreeFold

Hello,

We are very happy to announce that the TFGrid v3 is up and running on testnet for a few days now, and therefore also open to our test community !

This is a big milestone on our roadmap, which you can find here.

TFGrid v3 is built on a new fully decentralised foundation and our own blockchain infrastructure TFChain.
You can find the testnet version of the TFChain on https://polkadot.js.org/apps/?rpc=wss%3A%2F%2Ftfchain.test.threefold.io#/explorer.

Steps to start using TFGrid3 can be found in our Manual .
It covers the method to directly connect your farms and nodes on TFChain, but also new features such as using Terraform, and how to bridge your TFT between Stellar and TFChain. Of course, also this manual is brand new, so all remarks to optimise the wiki is also welcome.

We welcome all feedback from testers. Please post your remark as an issue on the Taiga repository that is created for this purpose, see here.

The more feedback we get, the quicker we can move to mainnet, so your contributions is of utmost importance to make our common dream about a decentralised internet a reality.
Thanks to all to make this happen !

Hey all,

Just to clarify, we will be offering testing stipends and a set of testing objectives as part of this program. If youā€™re able to get a head start by setting up your environment according to the documentation, that is great, but thereā€™s no need to bring your own TFT to testnet if youā€™d prefer to wait for funding.

Iā€™ll be reaching out to everyone via PM here on the forum this week, so stay tuned!

  1. Who are you, and what is your involvement in the ThreeFold community?

Hi. Iā€™m a cloud computing architect (specialised in VMware technology) looking for new opportunities more aligned with my values and with much more sense, thatā€™s why Iā€™m so attracted to threefold project. It is also the occasion to play and learn about k8s and terraform

  1. If you have an application youā€™d like to try deploying, what is it and how much capacity does it require? If not, why are you excited to come and test Grid 3.0?

The first step is to use threefold tech for self hosting purposes, using k8s and terraform to learn about them.

Second steps would be to create a conscious and local hosting offer and deliver it to the market.

  1. Are you already in the loop about new features in Grid 3.0? Do you have any questions about what needs to be tested?

VM deployment which is not functional on actual Grid 2.0 production releaseā€¦ Gonna join the Telegram channel
