February 2022 Farming Reward Update

Dear Farmers,
Minting for nodes on Grid v2 and Grid v3 for the February 2022 period has been approved by the Grid guardians and TFT payouts are being distributed.

What are the differences in minting Grid v2 vs Grid v3?

Nodes on Grid v2 receive TFT for true uptime. That means if a node was online for example 80% of the time it gets paid 80% of the TFT for that period.

TFT for nodes on Grid v3 are minted based on a minimum of 95% uptime per month (that means a node can be offline up to 36 hours per full month and still earn 100% of the monthly TFT).

The uptime is measured from the time when the node joined Grid v3. For example if a node joined on day 10 in a period (month) it has to meet 95% uptime for the remaining 20 days. Moving forward this example node’s uptime will be measured based on a full month.

Nodes who have been migrated during the February period will get TFT for having been on Grid v2 and Grid v3 if the uptime requirement was met.

We found a bug in the minting code that affected some farmers. The team is working on a solution and we sincerely apologise for the issue. We want to thank everyone for their patience and the way they communicated about this to us. A payment for the missing TFT will follow ASAP.

The minting process has run and is finished for the month of February (see ^^^ post). On-chain minting will commence in the near future, for now, it’s a process where grid guardians sign the minted tokens based on uptime reports stored on the TF Chain. This allows them to monitor a few things while the tokens are created and sent to their rightful creators, you the farmers! A couple of farms do not have the right information in the farm definition. Two major (and returning) issues:

  • the wallet address specified does not exist.
  • the wallet address contains the wallet secret.

Both mistakes will lead to tokens not getting to the intended wallet and since all this is done in a decentralized manner we (all) have to rely on providing the right information to the tokens to be minted and sent to.

February minting had:

  • 5 nonexistent wallets
  • 1 private key (starts with an S, not an A) instead of the wallet address
  • 1 (valid) wallet but no trustline

So - let’s do a farm checkup.

Online farm check

The farm creation process is described here. You should be able to go to your farm if you have created your farm online (or transferred the mnemonic to the polkadot browser extension, I created earlier a forum post here that describes how to do this ).

To start the check: go to the portal of the chain which holds your 3nodes (testnet or mainnet).

Click on the account

Click on “Farms”

Check the wallet address to the wallet address in your TF Connect app (or other Stellar Wallet).

Please do a careful check of this address, if it’s not correct you will not receive your tokens. You can edit the address and copy the one presented in your TF Connect app if it is not correct (by pushing edit next to the address.

Note:
A stellar address always starts with a G, and not an S. The S address is the private key by which you sign transactions. Never share this with anyone

TF Connect farm check (check only, you cannot edit).

In the TF Connect app on your phone open the menu and select “Farmers”. Then it will take a short while to load all of your farms and present you with the farms you created. Clicking on the farm(s) opens a screen with all the farm details. Please check the wallet address thoroughly. Again - as above, a wallet address starts with an A, not an S.
