ThreeFold Goals and How to Reach Them: Expand the Grid & Build Partnerships

In Brief

There has recently been amazing discussions by ThreeFold members (farmers, users) on the growth of the grid. At ThreeFold, we say that we want to reach a million nodes (!!!) and build partnerships. But how do we get there together?

I don’t have all the answers, but I think that as a collective we can answer most if not all of the questions. For a start, we can brainstorm ideas and propose ways forward.

This post will gather questions concerning the grid expansion and partnerships. In a future community call, we could answer those questions and discuss the subject with the community.

Context

To be a genuine alternative to big centralized players, the grid needs high uptime and a large pool of nodes to deploy on.

The basic statement is that we want to have a million nodes, because, at this size, we know any project can come onboard. At this stage, ThreeFold would/will be a genuine alternative for the market.

In practice, we will get there progressively. Let’s explore some questions and feedback on how we could achieve those goals: expand the grid and build partnerships.

Grid Expansion and Partnerships Questions

  • Do you have any indication how many nodes or capacity one of these larger projects would require? Are we close already?

  • And what would be most beneficial to grow the grid with? Rackservers/small gpu nodes/nodes with many gpu/etc

  • Any idea? Speak your mind!
