Proposition: add new Node Category - Audited

On behalf of community member @barkvador, documenting the following suggestion for community feedback and team review.

  • Suggest at some point to add a new category of Nodes, like, DIY, Certified and Audited.
  • Certified nodes are certified hardware but not infrastructure.
  • If farmers deploy “diy” rack servers in a datacenter it could be audited and then receive appropriate rewards because of quality of hardware and reliability of infrastructure.
  • *If there will still be difference in rewards when usage rewards are coming

I like the idea. Thinking about this it might be hard to find a process to properly ascertain of the audited part of a node existence though. Thinking in practical terms. I’d be curious to hear suggestions and feedback on that one.

I think that for hardware audit, ZOS does pretty good already.

For infrastructure audit, it could be a live video call for example, showing rack, servers tag, screen connected to each node to shows ID etc, then UPS, redundant switch etc…

And/or maybe for top tier DC, a contract that certified Tier of DC, multiple power source etc…

It could also be different types of certification depending of the Tier of DC/ infra capability.

For example, i plan to deploy on a private DC, that offer big solar panels/battery as UPS and reuse of heat for house/pool heating, not sure about double power inlet but still a good infra.

With distributed capability of the Grid, multiple location with “low” Tier could be better/cost efficient than one big Tier 4 location imo.
