GEP: One time minting adjustment

Dear community,

We have successfully upgraded our TFGrid on Mainnet to version 3.14.

This upgrade requires an update of the Farmerbot to version 0.15.10. For instructions on how to update the Farmerbot, please see our previous forum post.

We realize that the need to upgrade the Farmerbot as to not to lose any uptime wasn’t properly communicated. In the future we will make sure to communicate any action that is needed by the farmers so they won’t be negatively affected by upgrade changes.

Since the minting upholds a minimal uptime requirement of 95% for DIY nodes and 98% for certified nodes, we would like to propose the following GEP as to not negatively affect the farmers using the Farmerbot and who were not aware that action was needed to ensure their Farmerbot correctly sends wake up notifications.

We propose to adjust the minting code solely for the July minting cycle. The minting code as such will take into account that nodes that went to sleep maximum 24 hours before the Mainnet upgrade which occurred on July 15th at 2.30PM, but only got a wake up call after July 19th at 6PM CEST, will not receive any reduction in uptime.

This gives the farmers running the Farmerbot time until Friday July 19th at 5.59PM to update their Farmerbot version.

Since this issue only concerned nodes running the Farmerbot, there will be no grace period for nodes that were not run by the Farmerbot and experienced downtime for any other reason.

To vote on this GEP, please make sure to visit dashboard.grid.tf. After logging in, click on DAO and cast your vote before July 25th at 10AM CEST.

We would like to take this opportunity to urge the community to keep an eye out for important announcements. Any action needed to ensure your farm is up to date, will be communicated on our official channels.

Kind regards,
Sabrina

When people need to cast a vote, do they get an email to notify them about a pending GEP?

Dear @TFFarmer! At present, we do not send email notifications to vote for GEP. Instead, we are spreading information via our Forum and Telegram channels. Additionally, we are in the process of implementing a voting option within the TF Connect app most likely with a notification to vote. Thank you.

I see that the treshold was 25 votes, and we only got 20, all in favor. So what is next?
Last time for the deplyment of 3.14 the vote was re-opened because the treshold was not met. Are we going to do the same thing this time?

Further course of action is under discussion and the team will make an official announcement at the earliest.

As announced on the news channel:

"Last week’s proposal for a one-time minting adjustment received 100% positive votes but did not quite meet the minimum vote threshold. As the policy around votes not meeting the minimum threshold was not made clear, we have decided to 1. do a one-time re-vote on this particular proposal and 2. bring a new policy around future community votes.

Please stay tuned for details of the revote and the updated policy."

Dear farmers,

We have decided to allow a one-time re-vote for this GEP since the policy around not meeting the minimum threshold was not clear enough.

Please make sure to cast your vote on this matter on dashboard.grid.tf - TFChain - DAO. Keep in mind that the voting ends on Monday, August 12th at 12PM CEST and that the GEP will not be approved if the necessary threshold is not reached by then.

In case the GEP does pass, the minting adjustment will then happen by the next minting cycle of August 2024, and thus will be paid by the beginning of September.

In the future we will change the way the voting system is set up. More details will follow soon.

Kind regards,

The revote for the one-time minting adjustment has been completed, and the GEP has now been passed. The deficit in farmers’ rewards resulting from the farmerbot upgrade will be addressed in the upcoming August minting cycle.

You can find the details of the new GEP here.
