How to contribute to ThreeFold wikis and websites

ThreeFold is an open source project and we value the feedback and contributions of the community. Today we want to share with you the best way to contribute specifically and directly to our wikis and websites.

If you want to contribute to other aspects of the project like strategy, content, etc, the forum is the best way to get involved in those questions.

GitHub & Gitpod

ThreeFold Foundation and ThreeFold Tech both use GitHub as collaboration tools for web and other development. “Github is a web-based platform used for version control. Git simplifies the process of working with other people and makes it easy to collaborate on projects. Team members can work on files and easily merge their changes in with the master branch of the project.” So, as a decentralized project collaborating with people and projects around the globe, it’s a perfect tool for us.

We’ve recently also started work with Gitpod, a container-based development platform that is currently being used by more than 400,000 developers and provides ready-to-code development environments in the cloud. Gitpod is open-source and a highly-optimized Kubernetes application that provides a frictionless developer experience and allows for a more collaborative approach. It can be accessed fully remote through a secure browser – from all over the world. As mentioned, we’re using it to collaborate on our own web presence and it allows our community to be able to easily contribute as well.

If you’d like to get involved in contributing, we encourage you to check out the video tutorial below. It shows how we are using GitHub and Gitpod to build out our web presence and how simple it is for you to do the same.

As a note, having platforms like these deployed on our TF Grid could be quite valuable. We already have an open source Git tool called Gitea deployable on testnet. And as you may have seen on our roadmap to TF Grid 3.0, we are looking into building a similar platform to Gitpod on top of our TF Grid sometime in the future.
